Guess who had a rod bearing disintegrate yesterday? Yeah that would be me. :ps: That's what it sounds like anyways, I have not taken the motor apart yet.

On the way back into town it happened about 20 miles out of town. Fuck.

well that sucks. and it's one of those "rare yer-uh-pee-un" bikes, so getting parts will be a pain.

Probably less painful than getting the crank rebuilt. :idk:

oh. well at least parts are readily available... if the car is worth enough to justify fixing it.

I had a 3800 before that I sold with 180k and to my knowledge the guy still has it and drives it. They are very reliable engines.
First thing I thought afterwards was somehow the oil got crazy low, but the level is fine.

I don't think the car is worth fixing. I mean we're talking a re-build or a new engine. IF I did the rebuild myself we're still talking a few hundred in parts at least and I don't have a crane or stand. Not to mention it's cold as shit outside. The car is probably only worth 800-1000 anyways... if it was running and the abs worked etc(which it doesn't).

My brother had a 98 grandprix with the plastic intake manifold which kept leaking antifreeze into the crankcase.

You are supposed to put oil in the engine crankcase :idk:

j/k Zack, my parents have a 1990 with a 3.1 Multi-Port in it, and it has 330,000+ miles on it, and all three of us kids learned to drive in it. Now my dad drives it to work every day... (60 mile round trip)

Sorry to hear about your crappy luck!
:alright:

try to find a replacement engine at the junk yard and get a heater for the garage. i'm sure there are engine cranes to be borrowed on the forum.

I have an engine stand if you are going to replace the rod bearing yourself. :2cents:

except I don't have 20k. And believe me, if I did, I'd not spend it on that anyways.. as much as I like the concept... that's too much money.

There was a Luv Diesel for sale over in Pana though. The fact that he took a picture of it in the weeds made me not care enough to even enquirer about it. Oh but it had new paint 8 yrs ago!
I think they made like 70 some hp. At that weight and hp, I have to wonder if it'll even do 80.
